Feminine (Re)production - Adia Massé

What does it mean to be a woman? The more I research and try to grasp, the less I seem to know and understand.

This compilation of found and personal footage serves as a form of visual contextualization and examination of what it means to be a woman. This piece does not serve as an answer to that question but as a form of acknowledgment of the complexity of the identity of women. This complexity is explored through the seesawing of positive and negative experiences coming to a culmination point. Not so much about the content as in parts of the video information conflates, this project rather embodies and strives to portray the overwhelming feeling of questioning and the exterior pressure exercised on the body. The idea of Feminine (Re)production explores the performance of gender and how its internalization leads to its production and reproduction.
